    Cat and fiddle

If i can get away from the inlaws, I might be popping up to the cat and fiddle on Sunday.  My Sparky mate and his mate want to go there and try the road out - and have asked if I want to go.  So as long as I can escape, I shall finally try it out.  Not looking forward to the inevitable police presence though.

P.s.  where is it exactly?  Anyone got  a aerial map picture of it. Preferably with the road(s) highlighted.

Fantastic map MrF.Cool You can actually see all the bends and follow the whole road down to the bottom of the hill.

D6.... get to Macclesfield and head for A537 to Buxton. I might be going myself in the afternoon and dont worry about the coppers they can be avoided.Wink

If you see a black tuono with orange wheels there's a good chance that would be me.Smile

Cool, I'll look out for ya.  WE'll probably be at a slow pace as none of us have been there before, and the other two are new to biking.

If ure all new to c&f then even better for me showing off.Big Smile

No to worry about the slow pace D6, c&f road is really tricky so take it easy snd learn it first before trying to follow some of the local road racers or wannabees.Wink

Exactly what I thought - although it is hard not to be drawn into keeping up with others.  Luckily I'll have my mates to hold me back and keep it sensible.

I saw two. one at the pub with no-one around, and one at the end towards macclesfield with a pillion. Nodded to that one.

It was a good road.  It was shorter than I thought it would be, and a lot of traffic (cars, vans and loads of bikes) but I enjoyed it. I had been browsing the google maps last night looking at the road - and anywhere else in the area. Saw one I thought looked ok - then bumped into DaytonaBuff at a petrol station at cat and fiddle - and he confirmed tis a good road (long hill is it called?)  so I want to try that next time.

I think their was a police plane out too (yellow and blue i think) cause it just kept flying up and down the length of the road while we were sat at the pub.

Long hill is a very good road and me and Ray have taken a few of the boys from here down there its well worth a ride and used by TWO magazine for some bike tests too .

Cool.  Do you ride that long hill too nearby? Next time I'm up there I'm gonna give it a go.  Wish it was all nearer to me so I could practise getting my knee down there when it is nice and quiet (on an evening or sommet)

    Re: Cat and fiddle

one or two.  but not too many.  Saw one drive past  when sat at the pub.  One drove into macclesfield as we were just abut to go onto the road.  And saw the police plane i think circling while at the pub.  never saw any radar guns. not sure if thats good or bad.

    Re: Cat and fiddle

I didnt see any police on c&f at all and hopefully the police plane that D6 had seen never noticed me.Indifferent I did see a camera van at the bottom of longhill and I avoided it.Wink

I always go on longhill too D6. I was up there for about 4 hours in total. spent half the time on c&f and the other half on longhill, two beautiful roads. I just wish they were attached to each other it would have made it heaven.Stick out tongue But still we're so lucky we have such great biking roads so close.

Thats why I love riding on the 483 its like longhill and c&f connected together twice as long too. That road really is heaven on earth.Big Smile
