    THE GOOD

The night before I had to appear in court on a speeding charge when I was possibly facing a ban of between 7 and 56 days I went out and bought this :

2003 ZX636B1H which is going to be a mega track day bike next season and I might even squeeze an Oulton park in this season if I can.

It has 9200 on the clock, is in very good condition, has all the old MOT's and service history, good Michelin pilot power tyres and the following extras fitted: Meta 357 V2 cat 1 alarm with certificate, R+G crash bungs, fork protectors, bar ends and tail tidy, mini indicators, seat cowl, double bubble screen and race can Big Smile

Can t wait for next season Stick out tongue

Only rode it home in the dark and rain on the M6 so far so can't tell you much about the ride or handling but its way way different to a SP2.

    Re: THE GOOD

Thats exactly what I am after but in black. Think I prefer the side exhaust to the underseat ones.

PM me how much you picked it up for mate if you dont mind.  Looks liek it already has all the extras.

    Re: THE GOOD

Good find and nice bike. I've managed to persuade a client from work to go on a joint trackbike venture next year.

He's got a van and somewhere to keep it and we can share the costs! He hasn't ridden a sportsbike for a long time but has loads of car racing experience and after seeing us all at Mallory, he wants a go himself!

    Re: THE GOOD

DA - £2600 which I thought was a mega deal Big Smile identical bikes are going for £3000 to £3500.

Kwackers have always got to be green its the law no other colour will do Big Smile

D63 Nice deal splitting the costs and having a mate with transport thats a really lucky find and a great arrangement. Hope you get a track bike soon, what are you after ?

    Re: THE GOOD

Just been out on it and the thing is mental Wink I had read all the reviews saying this was a nutters bike and a real track weapon with a stonking 636cc engine but I had know idea a 600 would be that quick its defintely quicker than my SP2, plus it weighs nothing and has the fastest steering of any bike I can imagine its just so much fun to ride but the only bad thing is it encourages you to be naughty all the time as it just loves being ridden with in an inch of its live.

D63 I throughly recommend one of these as a track day machine they live up to the hype Big Smile

    Re: THE GOOD

I've read loads of reports on how good the early ZX636's are too. + its one of the best looking il4's, Japan has ever produced (bar blue 954's obviously). You've got enough power to always keep in interesting but never too much to make it silly. My 954 had too much power for me at Mallory!

     Was it a private sale?

Not sure what we are looking for really. There is currently a nice-looking VTR Firestorm on fleabay with track bodywork and will go for silly money but A) its in Cambridgeshire so i cant pop to have a look before buying B) i'm not sure what sort of track bike they would make. On the surface they seem a great idea, Honda build, v-twin engine with about 100bhp, but they never seemed to catch on. Anyone ever ridden one?

    Re: THE GOOD

Blue 954's and Green 636's rock Big Smile

Yeah private sale found on fleabay but completed before auction finished.

Buying a track bike is a personal thing depending on what you want from the machine so this is only my opinion and take it or leave it but I reckon a firestorm would have too many negatives to start with and be at a disadvantage compared to a well sorted IL4 600 or 750. They are heavy to start with which is a big negative in the tight and twisty bits when you need to flick it about, their steering geometry is more lazy road bike that racey replica and if your 954 had too much power at a Mallory track day a VTR might be similar as although the BHP is down, the torque output will be very similar at circa 70-75 lbft and its the torque that will break traction and have you high siding coming out of a bend if your a bit aggressive with your right hand.

Plus if your buying with a mate new to bikes a lumpy twin might be a little too much to start with where as an IL4 600 would be alot more user friendly and save you alot in crash damage and tyres.

    Just a few thoughts Wink

    Re: THE GOOD

TBH they were my thoughts too.

I'm in no rush so will bide my time. He would like an R6 but they seem as rare as rocking horse shite in good condition!

ZX7's are heavy too aren't they? I do like them though and they seem to last very well.

    Re: THE GOOD

ZX7's are about 200-210kg and only make 600 power but they do look mint Big Smile

    Re: THE GOOD

    Nice one blade!

    Whats your plans for it?

The only problem with this bike is.........its hard as hell to get trick parts as it was only made for 2 years! I am trying to find a carbon ignition cover (got clutch) just incase of an off, but I cant find one for toffee. But new ZX's, there's loads of carbon etc etc.

I dont think it will be much of a problem for you as your not necessaraly looking for bling!
