Well had a good day out. Have to say i thought it was well-organised and there were the right sort of things to do and look at.
I didn't go on track today but i had a ride out on a new ZX10 Kawasaki. They had about 5 ZX10's there for a test run..also Aprilia, BMW and Ducati were doing the same. It was a very impressive bike but i have to say it doesn't make me want to rush out and buy one to replace my Fireblade. It does make me realise that my suspension needs and overhaul though.
Dynojet were doing Dyno runs but i didn't see that til later in the afternoon and the queue to have you bike dyno'd was quite long. All free though.
I also had a try on the California Superbike School Mule bike. This thing.

They ask you to turn right and with a push on the bars, the thing leans onto it's side. The guy gave me a few pointers as to what i could improve on, then he asked me to barke and the thing tries to stand on its head. I had gripped the tank in readiness for that so the guy was quite impressed!
I ordered a set of stompgrips on the basis of this little test alone.
I also listened to Andy Ibbot from CSS. He gave the best explanation ever on how to get a feel on how to adjust your suspension. He suggested setting up the sag correctly first.
Then to adjust the front compression to right off and the front rebound to full on( make a note of your original settings here). Then go out and ride and see how it feels. Make notes of what it feels like. Come back and adjust the front compression to full on and the rebound to full off. Go out again and write down what the bike is doing. Then reset the front to its original settings ( or half way between on and off) and do the same for the rear settings. He says it will give you a good feel for what the adjusters do and how it can improve or worsen the ride on the bike.
When i get and afternoon off, i'm going to try this out.
All in all, a top day for £15. Next time i will book some track time though. £25 gets you a full 15 minute session.
